Our breakfast includes a baked good or hotcake, potatoes, egg dish, breakfast
meat, coffee, tea & juice.
We use fine, center cut meats, local eggs & local gourmet coffee.
We
also use homemade preserves and serve local fruits and vegetables from Grand
Valley orchards.
We
use organic products, as they are available.
We are a family
run business and we do not have
a hired staff.
Think of the difference between your favorite neighborhood restaurant
or bookstore and a chain...
The quality of your experience, your food and your
room at Willow Pond Bed & Breakfast, we hope, is worth any added expense.
This
is not a Motel (#) experience! (FAQ top)
Q:
Can I use the kitchen?
Since
we do not have a commercial kitchen, under our B&B licensing
and city fire marshall regulations,
we are only permitted to serve breakfast and afternoon snacks and guests
are not permitted to use the kitchen.
This is also why our kitchen is not available for guests/caterers to
use during special events or weddings.
Guests are welcome to bring in commercially prepared food for events.
(FAQ top)
Q:
Do you accomodate small children?
The
majority of our guests are adults looking for a quiet respite from their
children.
Our inn and the grounds are not childproof and we
are concerned about the safety of small children,
therefore we only accommodate
children age 7 and older.
Children must be supervised by an adult guardian at all times.
We are very happy to accomodate families with well-behaved older
children,
kids
really like our "Bunk Bed" room - The Hazel Tree Room...
We
have children too!

a continental or to-go breakfast will be available.
(FAQ
top)
Q:
Why does check-in at the Inn start at 4 pm and check-out at 11 am?
Willow Pond Bed & Breakfast has 3 guest rooms. The time between 11 am
check out and 4 pm check in is 5 hours,
which we have found is the minimum time
necessary to clean the guestrooms, guest areas, for maintenance and for
business errands.
If you get to town before 4, there are
many sightseeing areas, shops and restaurants in Grand
Junction and nearby
Palisade & Fruita,
to enjoy prior to check-in. (FAQ
top)
Q: Can I check in late/early?
Yes. We charge a $25.oo fee for early or late check in.
We charge this fee for early check in because of the added time constraints
we undergo to get the rooms ready for you.
"Check-in" prior to 2:00pm = luggage drop-off only.
We are a family run business and do not have an outside staff,
after 6pm is our family time,
therefore we
charge for late check-ins.
(FAQ
top)
Q:
Will I have to interact with other guests?
Depending on occupancy, you may or may not have
interaction with other guests.
Some people love visiting B&B' s
for the opportunity to meet other people,
others come to a B&B
for quiet, relaxation, and/or romance.
(FAQ
top)
Q:
Do you have phones in the rooms?
No, the majority of our guests are
trying to escape their daily routine and do not want to be disturbed
while on
their travels.
Also, most guests today carry cell phones.
If a guest must make an emergency phone call or does not have
a cell phone,
we have a phone available and we are always available to take
a message. (FAQ top)
Q:
Do you allow smoking?
Out of respect to our family, our
guests, and our neighbors, we ask that you do not smoke on the grounds,
in front of our property, or on adjoining properties.
Smoking is prohibited in all public
buildings in Grand Junction and the State of Colorado.
We care about the safety and health of all of our guests and smoking
is a health hazard.
The exterior grounds of the inn include a lot of trees and dry brush.
We have an old barn and hayloft
adjoining our property and smoking presents a fire hazard to our property
and neighboring structures.
Guests found to have smoked in our
inn will be charged for professional cleaning services. (FAQ
top)
Q:
Do you allow food and drink in the rooms?
We offer a comfortable guest area
with a small dining area,
guest refrigerator, microwave, and outdoor patio areas where guests may
enjoy their food and drink.
Of course, water is allowed in the
rooms.
We ask that guests do not take food and beverages,
especially
coffee, dark sodas and red wine into the bedrooms because we have very
light carpeting in those rooms.
This helps reduce the frequency of deep
cleaning of our carpets and of replacing stained bedding,
which in turn keeps our prices low.
If excessive damages or cleaning
is needed due to food and drink, a cleaning fee will be charged. (FAQ
top)
Q: If I'd like to leave a gratuity for the innkeeper,
how should I do this,
and what is an acceptable amount?
Leaving a gratuity is not required.
However, doing so lets
us know that you truly enjoyed your service, and appreciated our exceptional
personal attention.
It is acceptable to
leave the gratuity in the guestroom when you checkout.
Generally, guests will leave $5.00 for each night stayed as a gratuity. (FAQ
top)
(although $1,000,000.00 would be better)
Q:
Why is there a cancellation fee if I give more than 2 weeks notice?
The cancellation fee is not to make money but to off-set costs associated
with processing a reservation and then having to cancel it. There are
credit card processing fees and time to update paper and reservation
services for both the reservation and cancellation.
While a room is
reserved to a guest, we are unable to accommodate other requests and
often
have to turn people away.
Cancellations cost a bed & breakfast
more in the end than the fee. (FAQ top)
Q:
Can I get a reduced rate if I don’t
want breakfast?
Sorry, due to the B&B licensing regulations, we
can not offer discounts if you choose not to have breakfast.
(FAQ
top)
Q: Do you offer a AAA discount?
No, in order to be a member of AAA, an inn must have a
minimum of 4 rooms, therefore we do not qualify. (FAQ
top)
Q: Is there an iron and ironing board?
For fire safety reasons, we cannot keep irons in guest rooms. (FAQ
top)
Q:
Is a Bed & Breakfast as clean as
a hotel?
We sure hope so!!
We do our best to make sure all of the guest areas are as clean as possible.
We
do not have any indoor
pets, other than our two fish, so there is no pet hair or dander. We steam
clean and vacuum our rugs regularly. We wash our linens & towels
and disinfect all of our bathtubs after each guest's visit.
Our kitchen is thoroughly
cleaned and disinfected after each meal. (FAQ
top)
Q:
Can I have my friends/family over during my stay?
Out of courtesy to our other guests,
who would also like to enjoy the property,
we only permit overnight guests with reservations
on the property.
Unregistered guests are permitted
for special events only.
If you would like the use
of the grounds for a gathering or event,
please call to discuss event rates.
For the safety
of our guests, we like to know who is on our property at all
times,
much like a hotel
takes the car license numbers of guests on their property. (FAQ
top)
Q:
Do you have a wine & cheese hour?
We do not have a liquor license, therefore we
are unable to serve alcohol.
This is why we require a licensed bartender to
serve at all events.
We do serve yummy
baked goods and beverages in the afternoon, in our guest area.
Also, there are many wonderful local wineries
in Grand Junction, Palisade and Fruita,
that offer free winetastings,
an activity many of our guests enjoy.
(FAQ top)
Q: Why do I need an appointment to
tour the inn or see it for a future stay or a wedding?
We prefer potential
guests to make an appointment instead of dropping in for several reasons:
We want guests of the
inn to have privacy during their visit.
Out of courtesy to our overnight
guests, we do not show the interior of the inn
and guestsrooms
while they
are
occupied. We will extend this same courtesy
to you during your visit.
We may be serving breakfast or getting the inn ready for the next
group of guests and, as much as we would like to,
we may not have time
to accommodate your drop in-visit.
We prefer to give you
a tour when you can view
the
entire inn, when we can devote our full
attention to you,
answering your questions, etc.
We have found Mon.-Thurs.,
4-6 pm to be the best time to offer tours.
If we are accommodating overnight guests we cannot guarantee a full
tour.
If you come to the inn
without an appointment,
we will ask you to come back, at a later date, with an appointment.
For more information about
weddings and events, see our FAQ's on the special
events page.

Q: What's the
best time to visit?
It depends on what
you are coming to the Grand Valley to do.
May and September are the mildest
months. May through September are the best for outdoor activities.
May through the second week of June, has a beautiful flowering season
and is the best time for viewing
the wild
Mustangs in the Bookcliff Mountains.
September-November is the best time for seeing the fall foliage and touring
the wineries.
June-
August are the hottest months, mostly in the 90's and occasionally
100's.
This is the best time
to visit the farmer's markets, wineries and orchards,
the fruits and vegetables are in full swing.
Winter in Grand Junction is generally mild.
One of the greatest misconceptions about
our area is that we get a heavy winter, like Denver.
Grand Junction is on the
Western Slope of the Rocky Mountains,
therefore we get very little snow in
comparison
to the Front Range.
Last year's (2006) worst storm brought the Grand Valley about
5 inches of snow, while Denver had 9 feet at one point!
We do have
a cold winter and even
have
occasional
sub-zero
weather, but
generally,
even
in winter,
it's
sunny
and clear, with an average high of 30's and 40's and an average low
of teens and 20's.
We are only 35 miles from the nearest ski resort, so really there is
year round activity here.
(FAQ
top) Q: When's the
best month to have a wedding?
While June-August are the
most popular months, May through the second week of June
is, in our opinion,
the best time. The weather is mild and everything is blooming and green.
September
is also a very mild and beautiful month.
There is always a risk of inclement
weather in any season here.
Since we cannot accommodate more than 35 indoors, we advise
all wedding parties to please consider tents
when planning their outdoor event, if not for
rain, then for
shade. Be advised: summer months are hot.
We are happy to refer you to local party
rental companies to arrange your set up.
Only registered overnight
guests are permitted inside the inn and guestrooms.
